It's A Girl!

Despite the fact that it's been over 19 months since Hayden was born, we celebrated having a little girl this past weekend by painting her bedroom pink.

We are so late to the baby room game, it's ridiculous. We didn't know if she was a boy or girl before we had her so we did nothing to the baby room. We severely underestimated how difficult it would be to pull a baby room together after the baby arrived!

Steve and I took a half day on Friday to get the room cleared out, taped, and primed. My Mom took Hayden on Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon so we could get two coats of paint on the walls, clean up, and put the furniture back in the room. Thanks, Mom!

We couldn't be happier with the result. When we first put the color up on the walls, we had a mini panic attack. Man, pink is pink! But after moving the furniture in and hanging the curtains, things started to really come together.

There are still quite a few things we want to do in the room (figure out how to hang the quilt that Steve's Mom made for Hayden on the wall, put new covers on the outlets and switches) and buy for the room (a big comfy bean bag, a small bookshelf, letters to put her name on the wall, some lamps and other decorations) but we're so happy with where it's headed.

Hayden has been playing in her room like crazy since we brought her home from my Mom's. It's really the first time we have spent any significant amount of time in her room - it's so nice to see her enjoying it so much!
