We had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend. My Mom kept Hayden for two nights so Steve and I could escape to Chicago Fri-Sun. It was amazing. We did very little outside of shopping and relaxing, but that's exactly what we had in mind. Thanks, Mom, for giving us a little break.
When we picked up Hayden, she had a new Winnie the Pooh bear that my Mom bought for her. Ever since then, she's been hauling 'Pooh' all around the house and treating him like her little friend. He sits at her little table in the living room and watches her color. He has picnics with her. He snuggles before bedtime with her. Pooh is everywhere these days.
On Sunday afternoon, we took Hayden to the beach for the first time. She absolutely loved it. She lost her mind a little, rolling around in the sand, splashing in the waves, digging with her shovels. It was such a fun time. I know what we're doing every weekend this summer! Logistically, the beach with a toddler is hard. We're going to have to improve our process so we have more toys, less sand, and easier clean up!
On Monday morning, we took Hayden to the zoo again. We go so much, but every time we go we see something different. And Hayden really loves it. And whenever Hayden's happy, Steve and I are happy.
It's hard to be back at work this morning after such a long, fun weekend. The good news? Another short week!
