What Steve DIDN'T mention in his post is that his wife made him take his family up to urgent care after the daycare Christmas party because she was SURE her baby was having an allergic reaction to her ear infection medication.
Turned out to be dry skin. The urgent care physician had good suggestions for moisturizers. Such a rookie mistake! Thanks, honey, for trying to keep this debacle under wraps!
