Halloween

Little late on this Halloween post. We had a lot of fun this year with Hayden dressing up as her favorite Disney Jr. character, Princess Sofia. I avoided the dreaded Disney Princess phase as long as I possibly could. I guess as far as princesses go, Sofia is good. She's kind, and smart, and always learning good lessons. I can't complain.

We got together with Hayden's best friend from school, Ethan, and his parents for some trick-or-treating around the neighborhood followed by a pizza dinner at our house. Hayden and Ethan did a great job of walking door to door and being polite to all of our neighbors. So much fun to see your kid enjoying Halloweeen - and remembering the magical time from my own childhood. Sometimes being a parent is just so cool.

The day before Halloween, Hayden slept over at Auntie Erin's house and they went trick-or-treating at the Zoo. Drew was a cute little lion.

Hayden had two pumpkin farm trips this year. The first was with us, the second was a field trip with her class. Here are some pics with her two best buds - Ethan and Kian. The three of them have been in the same class at school since they were 3 months old. They have birthdays within 2 weeks of each other and are basically inseparable.

We also had a fun night at the Whitefish Bay Halloween party they have every year - you can carve a pumpkin and put it on display, there is live music, dancing, adult beverages, and plenty of space heaters. Going to this place is one of our favorite outings every year.

And finally, we had a lot of fun carving and lighting our pumpkins at home. It was hard for Hayden to understand why she couldn't carve one herself. I can't wait until she's old enough to actually do one independently. We baked some of the pumpkin seeds and she really liked those. Note to self: next year we should bake more of them because there were gone in a matter of minutes this year!
